Your Path to a Deal Worth Signing
how the business actually works. That’s where we come in.
Creek Music Group is not a record label. We don’t take your masters, lock you into contracts,
or own any piece of your career. Instead, we teach you exactly what labels, publishers,
and A&R executives look for—so you can build your career on your own terms, and only sign
a deal when it’s genuinely worth signing.
How Our Program Works
1 Apply for an Artist Evaluation
Tell us where you are and where you want to go. Share your music, your numbers, and your biggest obstacle. It takes five minutes.
2 Get an Honest Assessment
No fluff, no ego-stroking. You’ll learn exactly where you stand versus what the industry expects—and what specifically is holding you back.
3 Work the Curriculum
Move through the five core modules below, focused on the gaps identified in your evaluation. Learn at your pace, apply it to your real career.
4 Pitch From Strength
When you’re ready, approach labels, managers, and distributors with the confidence—and the track record—to be taken seriously.
The Five Core Modules
Everything a label expects you to already know—and no one teaches.
MODULE 01
The Label Lens
What A&R Actually Evaluates
- Streaming velocity — how fast a new release gains listens, not how many total streams you have
- Playlist retention — whether listeners save, replay, and finish your songs (skip-rate matters more than you think)
- Audience authenticity — listener demographics and geographic spread that signal a real, growable fanbase
- Release consistency — a dependable cadence beats one viral fluke every time
The Vanity Metrics Trap
- Why follower counts are the least trusted number in the industry
- How bought followers and bot engagement actively hurt your case
- How to audit your own numbers before anyone else does
MODULE 02
Your Package
Materials That Get Opened, Read, and Answered
- The one-sheet — the single page that replaces your 12-page press kit: what goes on it, in what order, and why
- The EPK (Electronic Press Kit) — links, bio, photos, and music organized so a busy exec can absorb you in 60 seconds
- Demo submission etiquette — subject lines, timing, follow-up rules, and the mistakes that get you inbox-zeroed
- Your artist bio — writing one that sounds like an artist, not a LinkedIn profile
Photos, Video & First Impressions
- What your visual presence signals before anyone presses play
- How to get press-ready assets on a budget
You’ll leave this module with a complete, professional package you can send anywhere—revisions included until it’s right.
MODULE 03
Release Strategy
Turning Songs Into Momentum
- Singles vs. EPs vs. albums — what to release and when, based on where you actually are in your career
- DSP fundamentals — how Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube’s algorithms decide who hears you
- Pre-release runway — the 4-6 week sequence that turns a release day into an event instead of a whisper
- Post-release week — what to do in the first 7 days that determines the next 6 months
Diagnosing Underperformance
- The five most common reasons good songs flop
- How to read your own analytics and adjust course
MODULE 04
The Business Side
Rights, Registrations & Money
- Publishing 101 — what you own, how it earns, and how to register with a PRO
- Splits & co-writing — the friendships and collaborations destroyed by one awkward conversation avoided too long
- Master vs. publishing rights — the two things you own, why they’re separate, and which one matters most when
- Registering your work — copyright basics that take 30 minutes and save you years of regret
Reading the Room Before You Sign
- Understanding recoupment — how “we spent money on you” becomes “you owe us”
- When to hire an entertainment attorney (spoiler: before you need one)
MODULE 05
The Pitch
Getting Meetings, Not Just Emails
- Who to approach first — labels, managers, distributors, and booking agents in the right order for your stage
- The approach — what to send, what to say, and the exact moment that separates professionals from hopefuls
- Negotiation posture — why “I hope you like it” loses to “here’s what I’ve built” every single time
- The independent alternative — when staying unsigned is the smarter play, and how to thrive doing it
When the Offer Comes
- Red flags in deal terms — control grabs, infinite term lengths, one-sided exits
- How to evaluate an offer against your goals instead of your excitement
- Walking away without burning the bridge
The Artists Hub and Community
Getting sign-ready is a team sport. Every artist who enters the program joins the Creek community—
a network of artists at every stage, working toward the same goal, so nobody builds their career alone.
🎤 Peer Feedback Circles
Small groups of artists who review each other’s releases, one-sheets, and pitches before the industry ever sees them. Honest feedback from people chasing the same standard—not friends who don’t want to hurt your feelings.
🤝 Collaboration Matching
Co-writing, producing, and split partnerships inside the network. Find the missing piece for your project—your next co-writer, featured artist, or producer is likely already in the Hub.
💡Workshops & Skill Sessions
Regular group sessions on the skills that matter—release strategy reviews, contract deep-dives, and pitch clinics where members pressure-test their approach before taking it public.
📈Accountability & Wins
Milestone tracking with people who notice when you’re stalling and celebrate when you’re not. Progress compounds when someone’s watching—and your community’s wins become your playbook.
The community isn’t a bonus feature—it’s how the lessons stick. Artists who learn alongside peers
apply what they learn faster, stay accountable longer, and build the industry relationships that
outlast any single deal.
“The best deal you’ll ever sign is the one you’re qualified to walk away from.”
That’s what sign-ready means. Not desperation. Leverage.
Common Questions
Is Creek Music Group a record label?
No. We are an artist education and readiness company. We don’t sign artists, take ownership of your music, or take a percentage of your career. You keep everything—including your masters, your publishing, and your independence.
Why would you teach me this instead of signing me?
Because most artists get bad deals simply because they don’t know what a good deal looks like. We’d rather help a hundred artists negotiate from strength than sign ten of them to terms they don’t understand. Our success is measured by your readiness—not by owning a piece of you.
Is this for beginners or artists with a following already?
Both—because the problems are the same. We’ve seen artists with 100 monthly listeners and artists with 100,000 both get stuck on the same obstacles: unclear positioning, weak release strategy, or no business fluency. Your evaluation determines where you start.
What does the Artist Evaluation cost?
The initial evaluation is free. After that, program options and pricing are discussed during your assessment session—so you only hear about what’s actually relevant to your situation.
How long does the program take?
It depends on your starting point and pace. Some artists are preparing pitches within a few months; others need longer to build the release track record that makes pitches land. We don’t rush timelines—we fix careers.
Do you guarantee I’ll get signed?
No—and be suspicious of anyone who does. What we guarantee is honesty about where you stand and a clear, proven framework for improving it. Getting signed depends on your music, your execution, and market timing. Being ready for the opportunity is what we control.
Stop Guessing. Start Preparing.
Find out where you stand—and exactly what stands between you and a deal worth signing.
